Computer Networks

After this course the student is well-informed about the abstract principles of a layered network architecture.

The student can name the common principles and important mechanisms, services, and protocols from the used layers of an architecture model. Additionally the student can indicate or calculate the applicability, trustworthiness, and performance of these mechanisms, services, and protocols. The student understands how the Internet can function through the cooperation of different layers and networks. The student can explain the important safety-risks and the accompanying countermeasures, including different forms of cryptography. After taking the course, the student is able to identify the abstract principles and important mechanisms within the context of a commonly-used peer-to-peer system.
